Major changes are afoot for the national School Games programme with the news today that the National Finals will be reverting to a biennial, rather than annual, event. Sport England released the following statement:
"Sport England would like to say a massive thank you to everyone – not least the Youth Sport Trust, Loughborough University and the eleven sports – who made the 13th School Games National Finals at Loughborough such as great success. The national finals are now moving to being staged biennially (every other year) so will take place next in 2020 and then 2022. Further information on the 2020 Finals will be announced during the autumn."
Whilst major change is in store at national level (level 4), the good news is that all events at county (level 3), inter-school (level 2), and intra-school (level 1) will all remain unaffected by the changes.
